Makita XT328M 3-Pc
18V LXT brushless 3-tool kit with recip saw · Reviewed by Drew · amazon.com live, Sept 28 2026
Why it scored a 78
At $649.99 this three-piece Makita set is the most expensive tool-per-dollar buy in the group, and the rubric splits sharply: quality 88, satisfaction 94 and reliability 87 against value at 56. All three tools are brushless, the XPH12 and XDT13 are among the lightest, best-balanced compact drivers sold, and the DC18RC refills a 4.0Ah pack in about 40 minutes. The problem is arithmetic — $650 for three tools is roughly what DeWalt charges for ten — and the recipro saw is the compact XRJ05, not the full-size model, with only 187 reviews. Best for buyers already on LXT.

Should you buy the Makita XT328M 3-Pc?
The Makita XT328M 3-Pc is for an existing 18V LXT owner who wants a brushless hammer drill, impact driver and recip saw with 4.0Ah packs, and does not mind paying for the Makita name. It ranks #10 of 10 in our Cordless Tool Combo Kits category at $649.99, which is roughly what DeWalt charges for ten tools. The tools are excellent; the arithmetic is not. If you want the same drill and impact without the saw, the Makita XT269T is $331 less with bigger batteries.
Where it earns its score
- Quality at 88. All three tools are brushless: the XPH12 hammer drill (530 in-lb), XDT13 impact (1,500 in-lb, 3,600 IPM) and XRJ05 recip saw.
- Star Protection. Communication between tool and battery guards against overload, over-discharge and overheating.
- Fast charging. The DC18RC charger refills a 4.0Ah pack in about 40 minutes.
- Light kit. 21.7 lb including two batteries and the bag.
What to know first
- Value is the lowest factor at 56. About $217 per tool, the worst ratio in the category.
- Compact recip saw. The XRJ05 has a 1-1/4 in stroke and is the compact model, not Makita's full-size saw.
- Smaller packs than the XT269T. 4.0Ah here versus 5.0Ah in the cheaper two-tool kit.
- 3-year limited warranty. Standard, but shorter than Bosch or Milwaukee.
Our verdict
The Makita XT328M 3-Pc scores 78, our Fair Buy tier, with Quality (88) and Satisfaction (94) offsetting a Value score of 56. Buy it if you are on LXT, need a recip saw and want everything brushless. If not, the Makita XT269T (84) at $329.00 gives you the same drill and impact with 5.0Ah batteries.
