Sunny Smart Magnetic Rower
Bluetooth magnetic rower · Reviewed by Drew · amazon.com live, Sept 28 2026
Why it scored a 80
At $399.98 the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW523021 is a 16-level magnetic rower with an extra-long 50-inch dual rail and free Bluetooth app content instead of a paywall. Value leads at 86 and Satisfaction sits at 90 across nearly 5,000 reviews, while Reliability holds at 88. Features lands at 66 because the LCD monitor is basic, pulse needs a chest strap or the app, and magnetic resistance feels flat at the top end, so strong rowers will outgrow it. The real caveat is the 180-day parts warranty, and some owners find the seat uncomfortable on long sessions. It suits taller beginners and steady home cardio on a budget.

Should you buy the Sunny Smart Magnetic Rower?
The Sunny Smart Magnetic Rower is the rower for someone who wants quiet, steady home cardio without spending Concept2 money. Sixteen levels of magnetic resistance make it nearly silent, and the extra-long 50 inch dual rail suits taller users who run out of slide on cheaper machines. At $399.98 it is our highest-ranked rower under $1,000 and the best pick in the category for beginners and apartment dwellers. Anyone training toward race pace or rowing hard intervals every day should still stretch to the RowErg.
Where it earns its score
- Value scores 86. That is second only to the YOSUDA among rowers here, and this machine is a clear step up in frame and rail quality.
- Quiet by design. Magnetic resistance means no whoosh of air and no sloshing water. Early or late sessions will not wake anyone.
- Long rail, solid frame. The 50 inch dual-rail slide with protective covers and a 68 lb alloy steel frame handle taller rowers and a 300 lb capacity.
- Free app content. Bluetooth links to the SunnyFit app, which offers more than 1,000 workouts at no charge.
What to know first
- Features is the lowest factor at 66. The LCD covers time, distance, calories, strokes per minute and time per 500 meters, but there is no built-in screen and no watts.
- Parts coverage is short. Three years on the frame is fine, but only 180 days on parts. Warranty scores 78 as a result.
- Heart rate needs a chest strap. There are no pulse grips, so plan on buying a strap if you train by heart rate.
- The seat gets hard. Owners notice the padding on sessions past 30 minutes.
Our verdict
The Sunny Smart Magnetic Rower scores 80, a Good Buy, and ranks fourth overall in the category. It is the one to buy if you want a quiet rower for daily cardio under $400. The Concept2 RowErg (90, $990) is the better machine if you train seriously; the YOSUDA (75, $239.99) saves $160 but gives up rail length and warranty.
