Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 40mm
Wear OS lifestyle watch (Android only) · Reviewed by Drew · amazon.com live, Sept 28 2026
Why it scored a 82
At $299, $50 under launch price, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 40mm is a slim Wear OS lifestyle watch with a 3,000-nit Super AMOLED, dual-frequency GPS, and the deepest health suite on Android. Reliability leads at 87 and Features sits at 84 with ECG, blood pressure, and Gemini on the wrist, while Value lands at 80 because battery is roughly one to two days, far behind the Garmins here. The real caveats are compatibility: it does not work with iPhone at all, ECG and BP require a Samsung phone, and older Galaxy Watch bands do not fit. It is for Android owners, ideally on a Samsung phone, who want health features over multi-day battery.

Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 40mm?
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 40mm is the pick for Android owners who want a real smartwatch, meaning apps, Gemini, payments, and the deepest health sensing on this list, rather than a pure sports watch. It ranks third of ten at $299. The 40 mm size and 8.6 mm thickness suit smaller wrists and overnight sleep tracking. What you give up is battery: 30 to 40 hours, not days. Garmin and COROS buyers will not be tempted; Pixel Watch shoppers should look here first.
Where it earns its score
- Deepest health toolkit here. ECG, blood pressure, skin temperature, Energy Score, and Vascular Load. No other watch in the ten offers blood pressure.
- Bright, sharp screen. 1.34-inch Super AMOLED at 438 x 438 and up to 3,000 nits, readable in direct sun.
- Thin and light. Armor Aluminum case with sapphire crystal at 8.6 mm and about 30 g.
- Dual-frequency GPS. L1 + L5 positioning at a price where many watches still use single band.
What to know first
- Android only. And the ECG and blood pressure features need a Samsung phone specifically.
- Battery is measured in hours. Up to 30 hours with always-on display, 40 without. Plan on charging most nights.
- Warranty is the lowest factor. One year, scoring 66 against a strong 87 for reliability.
Our verdict
