Garmin Venu 3S 41mm

Should you buy the Garmin Venu 3S 41mm?

The Garmin Venu 3S 41mm is Garmin's lifestyle watch: an AMOLED screen, calls from the wrist, sleep coaching, and about ten days of battery, all in a 41 mm case that fits smaller wrists. It is for someone who wants Garmin health tracking and battery life but does not need rugged specs or multi-band GPS. It ranks fifth of ten at $288. Runners chasing accuracy should look at the Forerunner 570 or COROS PACE 4; this is the everyday-wear Garmin.

Where it earns its score

• Calls and voice assistant on the wrist. A speaker and mic let you take calls and use your phone's assistant, which the Instinct 3 and PACE 4 cannot do.
• Ten days of battery. Not weeks like the Instinct, but far beyond the 30 to 40 hours of the Galaxy Watch 8 or Pixel Watch 4.
• Strong health suite. Body Battery, sleep coaching, nap detection, HRV status, and an ECG app.
• Highest reliability among the Garmins. Reliability scores 89, with a stainless steel bezel and Gorilla Glass 3.

What to know first

• No multi-band GPS. It uses GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo but not dual-frequency, so tracks in cities and canyons are less precise than the Instinct 3 or Forerunner 570.
• No maps, no flashlight. Features scores 74, the second-lowest factor.
• Always-on display halves battery. Expect around five days if you leave it on.
• Warranty is the lowest factor. One year, scoring 55.
