Alen BreatheSmart 45i
Lifetime-warranty premium, 24 dB · Reviewed by Katie · amazon.com live, Sept 28 2026
Why it scored a 79
At $449.00 the Alen BreatheSmart 45i is a premium tower purifier rated for 800 sq ft with a medical-grade HEPA filter rated to 0.1 micron. Warranty leads at 100 and Quality at 88: it runs at 24 dB on low, uses an optical sensor for auto mode, and carries a lifetime warranty. Value drags at 60 because that lifetime cover is conditional on staying enrolled in filter auto-ship (2 years standard otherwise), the ~$79 Essential filter is pricier than most rivals, and this listing sells through Amazon Resale with only 31 ratings. It is for a large living room where silence and a long warranty outweigh sticker price.

Should you buy the Alen BreatheSmart 45i?
The Alen BreatheSmart 45i is the premium tower for a buyer who prioritizes long-term support and a very quiet low setting over price. Its medical-grade HEPA filter is rated to 0.1 micron, it runs at 24 dB on low, and Alen offers a lifetime warranty. It ranks eighth of ten in our air purifier group, and the reason is simple: at $449.00 it costs more than twice the Levoit Core 400S for coverage in a similar range. If you want the best value in a large room, the Core 400S is the pick; the 45i is for people who value the warranty and the finish.
Where it earns its score
- Lifetime warranty. Warranty scores 100, the only perfect factor score in this group, though there is a condition (see below).
- Finer filtration. Medical-grade HEPA rated to capture 0.1 micron particles, tighter than the 0.3 micron standard.
- Quiet low setting. 24 dB on low puts it among the quietest 20 percent of purifiers.
- Smart enough. Optical particle sensor, auto mode and a color air-quality ring.
What to know first
- The lifetime warranty has strings. It applies only if you enroll in Alen's filter auto-ship. Without it, coverage is 2 years.
- Value is the weakest factor at 60. $449 buys 800 sq ft at 2 air changes per hour, which the $189.97 Core 400S roughly matches at the same air-change rate.
- Filters cost more. The Essential filter is about $79 and lasts 9 to 12 months.
- Check the seller. This ASIN sells through Amazon Resale; look for an Alen-sold variant if you want new-in-box.
Our verdict
The Alen BreatheSmart 45i scores 79, Fair Buy. It is a well-built, quiet, well-supported purifier that is simply priced above what its performance justifies for most rooms. Buy it if the lifetime warranty and 0.1 micron filtration matter to you; buy the Levoit Core 400S if you want the same room coverage for less than half the money.
