Petivity Smart GPS Tracker
Budget GPS tag, subscription · Reviewed by Katie · amazon.com live, Sept 28 2026
Why it scored a 65
At $39.99 the device is cheap, but Petivity — Purina's replacement for the discontinued Jiobit — requires a $9.99/month or $99.99/year subscription just to unlock live GPS and activity tracking, which is why it misses ProductViper's buy line. Reliability and Warranty score lowest here: Chewy reviewers report GPS accuracy and lag issues plus coverage gaps versus Fi and Tractive, and the warranty is a plain 1-year limited policy. Features and Value carry what little edge it has, mainly the compact tag and 30-day battery life.

Should you buy the Petivity Smart GPS Tracker?
The Petivity Smart GPS Tracker is Purina's replacement for the discontinued Jiobit, aimed at dog owners in the US, Canada and Mexico who want cellular GPS with a claimed 30-day battery. On paper it competes with the Tractive GPS DOG 6 at a lower hardware price. In practice its reliability score is the lowest in the category, and it sits below our buy threshold. Buy it only if you are already in the Purina ecosystem and understand the caveats.
Where it earns its score
- Long battery claim. Rated up to 30 days per charge, which would be the best of any cellular tracker here if it holds up.
- Two carriers. Uses both AT&T and T-Mobile, giving it more network flexibility than the AT&T-only Fi Series 3+.
- Compact and light. 30 grams and about 2.4 by 1.3 by 0.7 inches, small enough for a medium dog's collar.
What to know first
- Reliability scores 58. That is the lowest reliability mark in the category and the main reason it lands below our buy line.
- Subscription required. $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year to unlock live GPS and activity tracking. Without it, the hardware does very little.
- North America only. Coverage is limited to the US, Canada and Mexico, and the minimum pet weight is about 10 pounds.
- Warranty is the weakest ViperScore factor. A 1-year limited warranty scores 55, and quality is not far ahead at 62.
Our verdict
The Petivity Smart GPS Tracker scores 65, Buy With Caution, and ranks last of 8 pet GPS trackers. It is below our buy line because reliability and quality both fall well short of the alternatives. Spend $55.30 on the Tractive GPS DOG 6 instead, which scores 78 with a similar plan cost and a far stronger reliability record.
