Tineco Pure ONE S20

Should you buy the Tineco Pure ONE S20?

The Tineco Pure ONE S20 is the $249 cordless for someone whose biggest annoyance is hair wrapped around the brushroll. Its clogless brush design, 55-minute runtime, and six-stage filtration make it a sensible mid-range choice, and it replaces the discontinued Tineco GO 302 Pet. Reliability at 75 is what keeps it out of the top five. The Bissell PowerClean DualBrush costs $10 more and scores a point higher; the Shark IX141 is $80 less.

Where it earns its score

• Satisfaction is the standout at 82. Owners with long-haired pets or people in the house appreciate the anti-wrap brush.
• Clogless brush design. Resists hair tangles that plague standard brushrolls.
• 55-minute runtime. Longer than the Shark IX141 at 40 minutes.
• Six-stage filtration. Traps fine dust well for a vacuum at this price.

What to know first

• Warranty is the weakest ViperScore factor. The 2-year Tineco limited warranty scores 66.
• Reliability is 75. Lower than the Shark and Bissell alternatives at similar prices.
• Features score of 78. No dust sensing or auto mode; the A50S adds those for $80 more.
• Mid-pack overall. It does nothing badly but nothing decisively better than rivals.
