Aeron Chair

Why it scored a 80
At $1,649.99 the Herman Miller Aeron Remastered in Size B is the category's reference chair, a full 8Z Pellicle mesh design with no foam to compress and PostureFit SL sacral support. Quality leads at 96 and Warranty at 96 on the 12-year, 24/7 policy with on-site service. Value drags at 57: it is the priciest chair here, there is no seat-depth or arm-width adjustment, the firm bolstered seat divides owners, and sizing mistakes between A, B and C are common. It is for someone who runs hot, sits all day, has confirmed their size, and wants the chair that every other mesh chair copies.

Should you buy the Aeron Chair?
The Herman Miller Aeron Remastered is the reference chair in this category, the one every full-mesh competitor is measured against. It ranks #5 of 10 in our ergonomic office chairs at $1,649.99 in Size B, the middle of three frame sizes. It is for someone who runs warm, wants no foam anywhere, and is willing to pay the highest price in our top 10 for the highest Quality score. If you want adjustability per dollar, the Steelcase Gesture beats it; if you want mesh on a budget, the Sihoo Doro C300 is the approximation.
Where it earns its score
- Highest Quality score in the category. A 96, thanks to the 8Z Pellicle suspension with eight tension zones and a frame that is up to 91 percent recyclable.
- Three sizes. A, B and C frames let you match the chair to your body instead of adjusting around a one-size shell.
- PostureFit SL. Adjustable sacral and lumbar support that works with the mesh rather than a pad pressed against it.
- Tilt limiter with forward tilt. Seat-angle and forward-tilt settings for people who lean into the desk.
What to know first
- Value is the lowest factor at 57. This is the most expensive chair we cover and it does not score highest overall.
- No seat-depth or arm-width adjustment. The three sizes are meant to replace seat depth; arms adjust for height, depth and pivot only.
- Size matters at checkout. Size B is rated 350 lb, Size A 300 lb; buy the wrong size and the chair will not fit you well.
Our verdict
The Herman Miller Aeron Remastered scores 80, a Good Buy, carried by a 96 in Quality and Warranty but held down by Value. Buy it if you want a full-mesh chair that will still look and feel right in a decade. If you want more features for less money, the Steelcase Gesture at 83 is the stronger pick.
