CatGenie A.I.
Self-flushing / plumbed-in, reusable granules · Reviewed by Drew · amazon.com live, Sept 28 2026
Why it scored a 78
The truly hands-off design: no waste drawer, because it scoops, flushes, washes and warm-air dries itself in a roughly 34-minute cycle, which is why Features leads at 90 and Cats.com named it best self-flushing box in August 2026. You need bathroom or laundry-room plumbing, the box is unavailable several times a day during cycles, granule tracking and between-cycle odor are common complaints, and consumables run about $100 a year. At $429–479, Warranty is the softest at 66 (2 years, voided by third-party granules); the newer Whoosh cycles in 7 minutes.

Should you buy the CatGenie A.I.?
The CatGenie A.I. is a different kind of litter box: it plumbs into a cold-water line and a drain, then scoops, washes and dries reusable granules in a roughly 34-minute cycle. There is no litter to buy and no waste bag to carry out. It is for a homeowner with a bathroom or laundry hookup near the cat's spot and a preference for never touching litter again. If you rent or cannot run hoses, any of the enclosed boxes above are simpler to live with.
Where it earns its score
- Features score 90. Scoop, flush, wash and warm-air dry, three start modes including auto-start every 6, 8, 12 or 24 hours, and an app that logs visits.
- No litter, ever. Permanent washable granules replace bagged litter, and consumables run about $100 a year.
- Hoses in the box. An 8-foot supply hose and 10-foot drain hose are included.
- 90-day money-back guarantee. Longer than the trial most boxes here offer, plus a 2-year limited warranty.
What to know first
- Installation is the hurdle. You need a cold-water line, a toilet or laundry standpipe drain, and a GFCI outlet. Not every home has all three in one spot.
- 34-minute cycle. The box is unavailable while it washes and dries, which matters in a multi-cat home. It is rated for 1 to 2 cats.
- Proprietary cartridge. The SaniSolution SmartCartridge lasts 120 to 240 cycles, and third-party granules void the warranty.
- Warranty is the weakest ViperScore factor. Two years is decent coverage, but the 66 score is the lowest on the card and value sits at 72.
Our verdict
The CatGenie A.I. scores 78, Fair Buy, ranked #5 of 7 robot litter boxes. Buy it if you have the plumbing and want to eliminate litter entirely. If you cannot plumb it in, or have three or more cats, the PETKIT Purobot Max 3 at 82 is the better everyday box for $80 less.

Questions buyers ask
Does the CatGenie need to be plumbed in?
Yes. It requires a cold-water line, a drain such as a toilet or laundry standpipe, and a GFCI outlet. Supply and drain hoses are included.
How much does the CatGenie cost to run?
About $100 a year for SaniSolution cartridges and replacement granules, with no litter to buy.
How many cats can use the CatGenie A.I.?
It is rated for 1 to 2 cats. The 34-minute wash cycle makes it a poor fit for larger multi-cat homes.
